DescriptionThis patch fixes the tty input code to recognize Esc as the Meta-key, allowing to use Alt for extended commands
This patch fixes the tty input code to recognize Esc as the Meta-key, allowing to use Alt for extended commands with all terminal emulators that dropped Meta-bit functionality. That includes very common ones such as gnome-terminal, urxvt, PuTTY and pretty much anything made in the past ten years.
Using Alt for extended commands saves at least a keypress compared to #.
