| The variant called NetHack brass has been around for awhile, but Youkan's zip file contains some extra files that you do not need to build the game. In particular, Youkan's zip of the 040923 source code was not clean of generated files created during the build process on Microsoft Windows, including some Windows executables. Youkan's zip also contains old versions of some of the dungeon files, with DOS batch (*.bat) scripts to enable them.
Kernigh has generated this patch that contains neither the Windows-generated files, nor the old dungeons and DOS batch scripts. After applying this patch to the vanilla sources, you do have everything needed to build Nethack brass 040923 from source code.
